Ed's place was by far one of the best Airbnbs we have ever stayed in; it was truly something special. If you love nature and want to enjoy some peace and quiet with some wonderful people look no further. We truly enjoyed our stay so much and will definitely be back again soon. We really enjoyed hiking to the local water falls and the horse back riding tour to the coffee farm.
This is such a special place. It is a little slice of paradise. It is stunningly beautiful, peaceful, quiet, and just a short walk down to the main street where buses to Salento stop about every 15 minutes. There are also a number of little restaurants around there, so you don't really need to go anywhere if you don't want to. If you like horseback riding, Ed can arrange to have horses brought right to the hostel. There is a river running through the bottom of the property that you can take a dip in (If you don't mind cold water!) or you can just enjoy the sound of the river in the quiet of the night. We really enjoyed the (delicious) breakfasts in the morning where we sat around a big table with all of the guests and shared travel experiences and recommendations. I highly, highly recommend staying. here. :-)
Ed's place was one of the most beautiful we have stayed so far, with such a good vibe. It is located in Boquia, a short and easy 5 min bus ride to Salento and we much preferred staying out here than in Salento itself. Ed and his wife have made the grounds of the place so lush, packed with colourful flowers, with the river running along the bottom of the property, the bridge in view and fires in the evening, made it such an enjoyable place to hangout. We had the end Cabin with private bathroom, simple and nice. And there is so much to do - Ed is great at recommending activities and helping to arrange anything you need. Its right in the middle of the Coffee region which are only an hour or so's walk away, a beautiful one at that. And the Cocora Valley is a must. We stayed for 4 nights and would have stayed more if we had time.
Highly recommend Refugio Puente La Explanación. It’s located outside Salento but the insanely scenic views and family who run it make staying here a must. Loved my stay!
El Refugio gave us a uniquely wonderful experience. The nicest people, the sweetest dogs, the most gorgeous scenery, and a location that is both secluded and easily accessible - it all made this a special trip. Thank you to Ed, Leidy, Lizet, Achilles, and Yukon for a fabulous few days!
Staying in Ed & Leidy's place truly feels like staying in paradise. The room is cozy, beautiful and has the most beautiful view on the floral and green garden! Ed and Leidy are very kind, social and helpful with everything. They helped us with a horse tour and traditional cafe tour and Ed brought us to the Cocora valley so that we could do the hike. Honestly, you just have to experience the place itself. We will definitely be coming back one day!
Our stay at the Refugio was without a doubt the highlight of our Colombia trip: if there is heaven on earth, this is the place. Lucious green surroundings in a secluded valley, a beautiful stream flowing through the property, an immense and meticulously landscaped garden, an incredible sight on a stone bridge, very cosy and neat rooms with great beds (tip: sleep with the windows and curtains open. You'll be grateful when the sun starts rising in the morning... jaw dropping). Also great bathrooms (hot water!) and kitchen. And this is only the place itself. The hosts, Ed and Leidy, were phenomenal and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Hour long talks by the bonfire, ready to meet every request with a smile on their face ... great and good hearted people. Do not hesitate for a second to stay at this place, I guarantee your stay here well stick with you for the rest of your life! The only risk is wanting to stay here your entire life...
